Our Whare Our Fale
5 Steps to Home Ownership
  1. Step 1. Check Eligibility

To be eligible to purchase a home, all applicants must:

    • Be a New Zealand Citizen or Permanent Resident
    • Identify as a Pasefika household*
    • Not own any other residential property in New Zealand**

*At least one of the property owners must associate with any of the ethnic groups identified in the StatsNZ categorisation for Pacific People.

**Trustees or beneficiaries of trusts that own property may still be eligible

  2. Step 2. Register

You will need to express your interest in Our Whare Our Fale here.

Once your expression of interest is received you will be invited to attend a group information session.

The information session will provide all the details you need to know about the Our Whare Our Fale homes and owning one of our properties.

Once you have the information you need to know to make a fully informed decision, you can then officially confirm your registration into the programme.

  3. Step 3. Get Ready to buy

You are now registered into the Our Whare Our Fale programme.

It is important that you are equipped with the tools and support you need to help you achieve your goal of home ownership.

The first step is a Financial Capability Workshop. These sessions are run by your local Porirua Pasefika Providers. There is never any judgement – just lots of support and practical help.

  4. Step 4. Purchase your house

CPC will support you throughout the process of allocating the right home that suits your needs. Shared homeownership is an option that is available to make it more affordable.

  5. Step 5. Move in!

It’s time to move in and make this place home!

CPC will continue to be there to provide ongoing support where needed, with regular check-ins during your first years of homeownership.
